A little more about Care Assist Children's Services

Established in 2002, Care Assist Children's Services provides short term respite and long term care for young people with challenging behaviour.

We felt it was evident that good quality care for young people was not being provided in the area Local authorities were not given many choices from the private sector, so we decided to open care homes to provide the care and support that all young people, regardless of their skills deserve from the outset.

By creating a safe, secure and caring environment, our provision of care is extremely flexible to allow for the needs of the individual.

Each of our care homes is operated in accordance with registered standards and best practice where possible, whilst at the same time endeavouring to maintain an atmosphere as close to home as possible.

We place a great deal of importance on the consistency of the approach and support we provide to our residents and staff. Inappropriate behaviour or attitudes must and will be challenged at all times.

Placements

Our placements can range from short term respite care to long term placements for as long as is best for the young person.

Day to day care is planned in consultation with the young people via a weekly planned programme, tailored to meet the needs of the individual and at all times agreed with parents, social workers and pertinent others.

The care we provide needs to meet the needs of the individual and we recognise that this is not always something that can be planned too far in advance.

The homes will on occasion accept emergency placements. However, young people can only be accepted if space and appropriate facilities permits and the placement is planned as near to best standards as is practical. Also staff and persons concerned within the home are always made aware of any such placement plans and the decision recorded. A review of arrangements initiated must occur as soon as possible but no longer than 72 hours after admission.

We have cared for young people from different cultures and backgrounds and have worked alongside interpreters within our homes ensuring we adhere to the care plan.
